Last time the Golgy challenge was up, I did it with a PUG, and they had an interesting strategy that worked out well.
Damage on the first Gaze Holder, and the last gaze holder. We completed it on the 2nd try.
So according to the above chart, the gaze holder grabs gaze, and 5 guardians enter the pool and do damage under bubble number 1. As gaze runs down, gaze holder #2 exits and grabs gaze, then all other guardians exit. Guardians take out adds in the pool, as gaze is passed from 2-5. When holder #5 has gaze, the bubble marked 6 on the above chart is brought down, holder #6 grabs the gaze, and guardians re-enter pool to do additional damage. One person needs to be on add duty in the pool. Guardians exit when holder #6 is counting down to 0.
When I was doing the CM with clanmates last time, we weren't doing enough damage, and golgy eventually enraged, if we got that far. Certainly you aren't doing a lot of damage during this additional phase. Since you usually have one person with the debuff, and another with doing add duty, you get 3 guardians doing damage on him for like 5 seconds. But it helps, alot. It enabled us, to have him down easily once we entered the 3rd phase with gaze holder #1.
