Hello everybody! Welcome to the place where you can learn to hone your skills in the crucible and fine tune your game. Hopefully, using some techniques that I'll show you, you'll be increasing your k/d in no time!
Bare with me as I work on editing some game play video's I'll be creating for you. This is my first time doing something like this, but I think that the advice I have can be valuable to gaining that edge you need. Be on the lookout on Monday's for a new post with a new Piece of Advice. Be advised, there might not be one every Monday! I'm also open to suggestions and if you have questions about a tactic, weapon, or subclass usage. Please don't be afraid to ask questions!.
So for today's lesson (since its the first class and I'm at work), here is what I want you to do:
Start Recording your matches! (odd advice? let me explain)
This is something that beginners, and even advanced players should be doing. I'm not saying do it for every match, but I would prefer that you do it with matches that you just did poorly with, or just got crushed. The video sharing on PS4 is a great tool for beginners to learn. So you record a crappy match. Now what?
Watch It!!!
Seems pretty straight forward. I'll just watch the other team wipe the floor with my ass. Not really...So play the video, watch it until your first death. Back the video up, and pause it. Ask yourself 3 questions:
1. Why did I just die? (example: I was moving forward, focused on an enemy and was flanked by another)
2. What could I have done to avoid that death? (example: I should have strafed left for cover and the flanker wouldn't have hit me so soon)
3. Was I in a scenario I should have been in? (example: Probably not. The enemy I was focused on had too much cover on their side, and I was too much in the open)
Those 3 questions will begin to change your view of how to crucible. How you answer those questions will determine what areas of your game you need to fix. Are you putting yourself in scenarios where you are trying to use your scout rifle when the enemy is right in front of you? You should start switching to your secondary (which should be a closer range weapon, but that's another lesson). Always going after someone who you just can't get that last shot on and getting T-Bagged 2 seconds later? Stop chasing. These are all typical scenarios. Not every death occurs the same way, and you should expect to die!!!! Now, once you analyzed the first death; move to the next. The goal is to limit those deaths by learning where you made your mistakes.
Questions or Comments are welcome.
