This is a guide on how to get the three exotic swords.
So you completed The Regicide Mission and sent Oryx into hiding. Now what?
Welcome to endgame. After you complete the main story, everything else opens up to you.
To obtain the sword you also need to complete the mission: Dread Patrol
Once that's done, Shaxx will give you a quest to collect Hadium Flakes.
Grab your Nightstalker subclass, or join force-a-friend program (grab a friend who's a Nightslatker), and get to farming.
Once you get the Flakes, return to Shaxx with motes and flakes and be presented with a choice of sword: Solar, Void, or Arc.
If you have one character this is a big choice to make. As it determines what exotic sword you can obtain.
Sol edge gives you the Raze-Lighter, a single target killer.
Void edge gives you the Dark-Drinker, an AoE Monster
Arc edge gives you the Bolt-Caster, an arc disk launcher.
I personally prefer the Raze-Lighter because it absolutely wrecks single targets.
Whichever you choose, you'll then need to infuse the sword up to 280 light to progess to the next quest.
Once you get the new quest, your first step is getting sword kills, 50 major kills and 25 guardian kills.
For guardian kills, I recommend Rumble or Control since people will either be focusing more on objectives or other people.
You'll still need to try and be sneaky.
If you don't find good result grab the hilt and go skull bashing.
Once you embarrass 25 guardians, return to Shaxx and start your next step.
The next step is defeat Ecthar, Sword Of Oryx, on the Dreadnaught.
You'll find him by running through the Dreadnaught to where you tart the Darkblade strike.
Keep going until you run into a door that won't open.
Once you reach the door, you'll notice the three Knight wardens.
To open the door, all three need to die very quickly, one after the other.
If it doesn't open, go to orbit and try again.
Once through proceed until you find Ecthar, dispatch the enemies around him and then face him.
His shield can only be taken down by a sword, but once the shield is down, he can be hurt by anything else.
After he's down return to Shaxx for your next step.
The next step is a long and arduous one.
For this one you'll need to get 500 ability kill with the damage type of your sword. ex: Sol edge needs 500 solar ability kills
You'll also have to collect 10 rare materials from resource nodes on a specific planet:
Void is Mars, Solar is the moon, and Arc is Earth.
This takes a very long time.
Once you get the ability kills and resources, return to Shaxx and he'll tell you to wait for Armsday.
On Armsday the quest will progress again and you'll be told to start a special Darkblade strike.
This is a 300 light strike and is very tough.
In said strike you'll need to get to the end and kill a specific knight and the Darkblade very quickly.
The knight you need to kill has a shield type the same as your sword.
If you're going for only one sword you can and should kill the other two knights that spawn quickly.
Once they're down return to Shaxx.
Congratulations, Enjoy your 310 exotic sword!!
For obtaining more exotic swords, either grab another sword from Shaxx or transfer one to your main, infuse it up and you'll be able to start the quest at the collect resources part. No more hilt smashing!
Tips: For obtaining all 3 I think warlock is the best class for that, since all 3 subclasses have good killing power.
Unless you hate yourself, DO NOT PICK VOID SWORD ON A TITAN!!
